#9 - 1 July 2005

Character was built in many pastors and leaders last weekend as Pastors Bob Davis, Jeff Figgs, and others shared the importance of character in Christian leaders from 1 Timothy chapter 3. Leaders from around the city were blessed by the teaching of God’s word and the wisdom that the visiting pastors had to share. They were also encouraged by the practical insight into personal character that was emphasized over the three day event.

After the conference a rock band from North Country Chapel, the church of Pastor Bob Davis, went out to share the love of Jesus Christ through music. They visited a high school and a few local churches and highlighted their ministry by playing for a large event at the Makerere University pool. The event was called “Prime Time” and is a Christian hosted night of music, testimony, and fun. It is offered as an alternative to the immoral night life that many young people are drawn to in the city. On an average Saturday night over two thousand university students gather together, many of them unbelievers, to have a good time. The band was given almost an hour to share a few songs of worship together with several of their own tunes. They were also interviewed and asked about their faith. During their performance a news team from ABC news in the United States showed up to film the event. Prime Time is becoming known as a center for Uganda’s HIV/AIDS success through their preaching of abstinence and faithfulness in marriage. ABC was there to shoot some clips for their upcoming documentary on AIDS and Uganda. It was a wonderful opportunity for the band to share the love and power of Jesus!

Praise God that Jean Davis, wife of Pastor Bob Davis, and forty women from CCK were build up and encouraged during the first annual woman’s retreat. They had an impacting and insightful time as they shed tears and studied the love of Jesus in the book of Ruth.

Remember to pray for Ray White and his team coming from the United States this July. They are bringing several boxes of sound equipment and we are seeking God for a safe delivery of all the items. Also be praying for a fruitful time of ministry as the team will be hosting a Christian musicians conference, and also installing the new sound system for the church.

Please pray for Anne as she leads worship at CCK. We are praying that God would provide a permanent worship leader.

Sunday morning service is filling up fast and soon we will move to two services. This is a big step in the life of our church and we ask that you would pray for God’s perfect timing.
