#8 - 15 June 2005

Pastor Josh Carlson successfully held down the fort these past two week as Brian traveled to the USA for the Calvary Chapel Senior Pastors Conference. Josh taught the Sunday morning and Wednesday evening Bible studies, and also carried the other responsibilities for Brian while he was gone. “I really enjoyed it” Pastor Josh said, “it gave me an opportunity to teach, it’s something that I always love to do!” Josh has a calling and vision to pastor a church in the future with his soon-to-be wife Natalie Long. They are getting married in England this September.

Calvary Chapel Kampala will soon be visited by two short term mission teams from the United States. The first will be here from June 22-July 1 and will be led by Pastor Bob Davis of North Country Chapel. His team will be involved in the annual CCK pastors and leaders conference here at the church. Pastors and leaders from the community, and those working with Far Reaching Ministries, will be in attendance. Bob’s wife Jean Davis will travel with Lynne Kelly and fifty other women to a women’s retreat in Jinja Uganda. The rest of the team will reach out to Kampala’s youth through music and evangelism.

The next team will arrive July 11 and will be led by Pastor Ray White from CC Sarasota. Ray has been here three times before and loves the people of Uganda. They will bring a sound system when they come and set it up at the church. Ray will also lead a Christian worship and music conference at the church. Many up and coming musicians will learn important principles for Godly ministry.

Please pray for the upcoming pastor and leader conference, the women’s retreat, and the band outreach at the end of June. We are asking God for a fruitful time of ministry.

Lift up Ray White and his team as they prepare to bring the sound system to Kampala. We need your prayers that all of the twelve containers make it safely. We have had problems in the past with items “missing” from our luggage and we don’t want anything missing from these containers. Also pray for grace with the checking agents at the airport, that they would not put unnecessary restrictions on the team’s luggage.

Please pray that God provides a worship leader for CCK. Our previous worship leader is no longer with us and we need someone to fill his position.

Pastor Doug Calhoon and his wife Destiny have just returned from America with their new baby Jotham. We thank you for your prayers on their behalf. We praise the Lord that David, Ernest, and Shafic were able to do the work of the ministry in Fort Portal while they were gone, and that the church is still strong and flourishing.
