This Christmas and New Year season Calvary Chapel Kampala has enjoyed the preaching ministry of Josh Carlson. Pastor Josh has been at CCK since the beginning, and is one of its founding members. He is currently an associate pastor at Calvary Kampala, and is also the director of Calvary Chapel Bible College Uganda. Those who know Pastor Josh agree that he is a great Bible teacher, and a kind-hearted person. Josh is married to Natalie Carlson.

Pastor Brian and his family are currently in the United States, and will return later this month. Until they return, Calvary will continue to enjoy the teaching and pastoral ministry of Pastor Josh.

• Urgent Prayer Request: Please take a few moments to pray for the people of Kenya. Kenya borders Uganda to the east, and is experiencing social unrest because of the recent elections. Many people have been killed and displaced. We also ask that you pray for our sister church, Calvary Chapel Nairobi and pastor Dave Zavala. Calvary Chapel Nairobi is close to a major Kenyan slum, and many of the church members are in danger. Pastor Dave wrote the following: Due to all the insecurities in the country, we are not going out of our houses. We don’t know when the situation in the country is going to get better. So its our humble request that you remember us in your prayers that the Lord would continue to protect us and our church congregates, and that Lord willing, peace would return to the country of Kenya. • Please pray for Brian and Jill Kanyike as they are in the United States for the next few months. Brian and Jill are a big part of the ministry here at CCK. Brian teaches several classes including the Foundations class, and a class at CCBC Uganda. Jill is the head of the women’s ministry at the church.
• Pray for the Kelly family in their travels. They will return to Uganda January 21st.
• Pray for our new Sunday morning study through the book of Romans. The Apostle Peter said that within Paul's writings are many things "hard to understand" (2 Peter 3:15-16) This is certainly true of Romans. Pray for the anointing of the Holy Spirit upon the preacher and the congregation.
• We have found a nice piece of property in Bukoto, a suburb of Kampala. We are opening the boundaries of the property to determine which parts may be protected wetlands. Pray for God to open the door for this property if it is His will. Donations are being received at the church in special envelopes located by the tithe and offering boxes.
