Here is an excerpt written by Pastor Brian Kelly from the recent Calvary Connection at CCK:

We have been looking forward to this Calvary Connection for a long time. It has been on my heart, and the heart of the leaders of Calvary Chapel Kampala, that we would rise up to new heights in the Lord. The theme of this quarter is “Lift Off!” Why? Because we as a church family are taking a step of faith, knowing that God is going to help us soar with wings like eagles (See Isaiah 40:31)

Let me explain, to start with, we believe that God wants to take each of us into a deeper level of fellowship with one another. The Bible says, “…if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another…” (1 John 1:7) Our desire is that you would get to know us (the ministry leaders) and one another in the church. This is a family, and though you may not be able to meet everyone, why not step out in faith and get to know one or two people in the church? There are many opportunities for this at our weekly fellowship groups and worship services. We are a family—let’s start acting like it!

Secondly, by God’s grace, we are taking a step of faith to “lift off” by becoming financially self sufficient. This is our church, and the Lord has given us the resources and abilities as the people of Calvary to provide for the needs of the church family. For some time we have been assisted from “outside” by our friends of the ministry, and though we will continue in those valuable relationships, we believe that God wants us to care for our own, and provide for ourselves. We are calling on the congregation to pray about their role in this endeavor, and to give cheerfully as the Lord leads. Pastor Josh and I will continue to receive an external salary, but all of the other expenses of this great church will be paid for by us—the family members! God wants to use you and me to enable the Calvary Chapel family to reach higher heights as we lift off in the Lord!

• Praise God for the Calvary Connection meeting. It was a great time as the church gathered together to share the vision for the future of CCK. The vision included details about the church budget, and the excitement about new church property.
• Property! We haven't forgot, have you? Keep our search for property in your prayers. We believe that God has something wonderful in store just around the corner!
• Update: Last week Brian, Jacob, and Kimuli visited a piece of property that would make a great place for a future home of CCK. For the next couple of weeks we ask that you seriously pray about our securing it.
• Within the next several months leading up to 2008 the church will be completely self sufficient, and standing on it's own financially! This is a huge praise to God. We ask that you pray for CCK as we make this transition. Pastors Brian and Josh will continue to receive international donations through Far Reaching Ministries (www.farreachingministries.org), all other expenses will be covered by the generosity of the CCK members through tithes and offerings.
