Jill KanyikeHere is an update on the recent CCK women's retreat by Jill Kanyike:

“And it happened, as He was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He asked them, saying, ‘Who do the crowds say that I am?’ So they answered and said, ‘John the Baptist, but some say Elijah; and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again.’  He said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’ Peter answered and said, ‘The Christ of God.’ “ - Luke 9:18-20

On June 28 – 30 we held Calvary Chapel Kampala’s 3rd annual Women’s Retreat.  The theme of this year’s conference was “A Snapshot of Jesus”.  The Retreat was held and Lweza Training and Conference Center located just outside of Kampala. The Center’s large gardens gave a serene and quiet atmosphere for the women to study and fellowship with one another.

Womens Retreat

Vicki BentleyThe guest speaker for this year’s retreat was Vicki Bentley of Maranatha Chapel. She and several other ladies from CCK and Maranatha Chapel taught on Who Jesus is, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, The Word becoming flesh, and Commitment.  Along with these main sessions there were workshops on personal devotions, child evangelism, and being single.  Whether it was a time of worship, teaching, or just having fun, the conference was all about Jesus.  It was a chance for women to really examine their personal relationship with Christ, recommit themselves to Him, and return to their first love.  Sixty women attended the conference.  Many of those women have expressed how blessed they were by the teaching and the ability to get away from the business of their lives to focus completely on the Lord.

Prayer & Praise
  • Please pray for the Calvary Connection meeting this weekend. We will be sharing the vision for the future, and talking about important opportunities for our church family. If you are here in Kampala the meeting starts at four on Sunday.
  • Property! We haven't forgot, have you? Keep our search for property in your prayers. We believe that God has something wonderful in store just around the corner!
  • Within the next several months leading up to 2008 the church will be completely self sufficient, and standing on it's own financially! This is a huge praise to God. We ask that you pray for CCK as we make this transition. Pastors Brian and Josh will continue to receive international donations through Far Reaching Ministries (www.farreachingministries.org), all other expenses will be covered by the generosity of the CCK members through tithes and offerings.
