“The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.” – 1 Peter 5:1-4

This verse held the theme of the 2007 Calvary Chapel Pastors conference. The theme this year was “Tend the Flock” and pastors from all over Uganda learned important principles on caring for the whole church. It was wonderful. Pastor Ray Bentley and a pastoral team from Maranatha Chapel (www.maranathachapel.org) in San Diego California came to share from their wisdom and Biblical knowledge. Pastors learned about the shepherds ministry, motivation, model, and much more! There were also sessions from Ezekiel chapter thirty four on the future of true and false shepherds. For many of the pastors these three days were inspirational and eye opening. One pastor in attendance traveled all the way from Northern Uganda. He told us that the trip was long, but it was worth it for the teachings and resources he was now able to take back to his congregation in Gulu. The other pastors who were there shared many of the same stories and testimonies of what they had received. It was refreshing to see these men continuing in this great calling that God has given them to “shepherd the flock of God!”

• We praise God for the Pastors Conference. Many pastors and leaders were equipped to go back to their congregations with a heart of a good shepherd.
• Please pray for the pastors as they return to their flocks in Uganda.
• Within the next several months leading up to 2008 the church will be completely self sufficient, and standing on it's own financially! This is a huge praise to God. We ask that you pray for CCK as we make this transition. Pastors Brian and Josh will continue to receive international donations through Far Reaching Ministries (www.frmafrica.org), all other expenses will be covered by the generosity of the CCK members through tithes and offerings. This vision will be shared at the upcoming Calvary Connection.
• Nathan Perkins and some other Bible College students have started a new youth service at the church on Saturdays called "engage". Please pray for this ministry. Over fifty percent of the population of Uganda is under the age 18!
• As our newsletter list increases we have moved to a newsletter handling service online. It will now be easier for us to manage and send newsletters and prayer updates from CCK. It will also allow for easier subscription and removal from the CCK Email list. Please keep us in prayer during this transition. Your prayers mean a lot to us!
