The following Prayer Update was written by Mohan Paniyur, our prayer and outreach director at CCK.
George Buttrick said, “Prayer is not a substitute for work, thinking, watching, suffering, or giving; prayer is a support for all other efforts.” We at CCK Prayer Fellowship firmly believe in his words and that’s the reason we gather at 5 pm every Thursday, so that our prayer would be a support for all the efforts of the church and the congregation. Our responsibility has further increased since the church has grown from one to three services on Sundays. We’ve been a small group of eight to ten members who sincerely come every week and sincerely pray from the bottom of their hearts for the various needs of the church. We also pray for prayer requests submitted by individuals, for the nation of Uganda, for the sick & needy, for those who need to get saved, and for the pressing issues of the world. We firmly believe that our Lord God has answered our prayers and that can be seen at time like when people share their testimonies at the Church on Wednesday nights. During the fellowship, we also share testimonies on what the Lord has done in our lives the previous week, so that we may encourage, exhort and edify each other.
Our earnest request is that you join as at least once a month, because prayer is not a spiritual gift given to a select group but is mandatory for all true believers in Christ. Colossians 4:2 says, “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Besides, if you are not involved in any kind of ministry at the church and still do not know your gifting and do not know where to fit in, the Prayer Fellowship is a good place to begin with. To conclude let me quote the words of Guy H. King. He said, “No one’s a firmer believer in the power of prayer than the devil; not that he practices it, but he suffers from it” and writer Phillips Brooks said, “If man is man and God is God, to live without prayer is not merely an awful thing; it is an infinitely foolish thing.” |
