View From Calvary Chapel

For the past several months we have been studying the book of Acts on Sunday mornings. Acts is a book of instruction, as well as a perfect pattern for the church. God was His church to function His way, and in Acts we find God’s way spelled out for us in detail. From the beginning of the church, when Jesus sent the Holy Spirit power, we have nonstop action, and a great witness from the early believers. It is fascinating reading the stories of Peter, John, Stephen and the others, whose lives of faith impacted the world around them. Last Sunday we talked about the importance of a personal relationship with Christ from Acts chapter seven. Many believers today, like the religious leaders back then,  focus only on what is going on outwardly—church attendance, religious works, and appearing holy to others. Sadly, these same “religious” people are missing out on what Jesus came to accomplish. Jesus came to restore man’s relationship with God!
“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” John 17:3

Wednesdays have also been quite exciting. As you may know, at Calvary Chapel Kampala we are studying through the Bible on Wednesday nights.  The service starts at five thirty. We begin with worship and a time of testimony, then Pastor Brian teaches from two to three chapters in the Old Testament. Wherever we left off the week before, that’s where we start the next week! We are now in the book of 2 Chronicles, going book by book, chapter by chapter, and verse by verse until we get to Revelation. For many, this is the first time that the stories and teaching from the Old Testament actually come alive, and are able to be applied to their lives.
“So they read distinctly from the book, in the Law of God; and they gave the sense, and helped them to understand the reading.” Nehemiah 8:8

Prayer & Praise

We thank God that the new third Sunday service is going very well. Each week attendance goes up, and new people are coming to the church. This is only a temporary solution however. As we continue to grow we will need to eventually find a new location. Please pray that God would provide the perfect place.

Please pray for Pastor Brian's wife Lynne and their kids as they travel to the United States on Wednesday. Brian will be traveling on April sixteenth to meet them there for a short visit.

The Mega Mix at Calvary Chapel is coming up this month on the 25th. Pray that this youth event would be used to reach out to many with God's love. For more info visit: www.themegamix.com
