Baptism

Before Jesus ascended to the Father He gave us a commandment: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you…” (Matthew 28:19-20) Part of this great commission is baptism. Baptism outwardly demonstrates the work that Jesus Christ has done in our hearts. When a person is baptized, he or she is declaring that they belong to Jesus. They are making a public profession of faith and union with Christ.

Last week over sixty people made this public profession at Lake Victoria. It was a wonderful time as the believers were baptized, coming up out of the water knowing that old things have passed away, and all things have become new (see: 2 Corinthians 5:17) Pastor Brian Kelly and Zeddie Muzungu, a pastoral intern at the church, had the privilege of peptizing those who were ready to make this important commitment. At the end of the day all who were present for the service were blessed by the faith of those who have decided to follow Jesus.

Prayer & Praise

Please pray for Pastor Brian and a team of people who will be traveling to Rwanda this coming week. They will join with some brothers from Calvary Chapel La Habra, and host a conference in Kigali, the capitol of Rwanda. Many pastors and church leaders are expected to attend, so pray that the truth of God’s word would prevail in their hearts. The team members going are: Jason Stead, Francel Esquevel, Bob Dominguez, Ron Mukai, Zeddie Muzungu, David Kimuli, Eric Kayiwa, Peter Nduala, Nathan Perkins, and Brian Kelly.

Praise report: The team that recently traveled to Central African Republic has returned safely! Their testimony of God’s work is incredible. Pastor Craig Linquist said that is was a source of great encouragement to see God working through he and the Bible College students who went.

Pray that God would bring the right students to the Bible College this semester. Orientation is Sunday the 18th.
