Calvary Chapel Kampala

The following message was shared at a recent Calvary Connection meeting, in preparation for the New Year. We hope you too will enjoy reading it and joining us in prayer!

A New Season

Calvary Chapel Kampala is entering a new year and a new season in ministry. I believe that God wants to do great things in our lives, and that He has great plans for our church. A new season does not necessarily mean that all of the ministries and services of the church will be new. It does however mean that we will have a new freshness in the ministries that we now have. In addition to our current ministries and services at the church, we are going to add on several new features to help us reach up, reach out, and reach in effectively. Our prayer is that in this new season the Holy Spirit would blow on us in a fresh new way, and help us grow more in love with Jesus! Are you ready for the new season?

The new season at Calvary Chapel Kampala will include three basic elements. These are not the only things that we are going to be doing this year, but they help to give us a plan and vision for the future.

SERVICE - Acts 2:46-47
The first element of the new season is a new service time. Beginning January fourteenth there will be a total of three services at CCK. The first service will be at a quarter past eight, the second will begin at ten, and the third service will start at exactly mid-day. The new service will allow for more people to attend as the church continues to grow. A new service will also provide another option for people who may not prefer coming to the previous two services.

SERVANTS – Matthew 20:26-28; Luke 22:27
The second element is our new servant opportunities. As we grow each one of us must be involved in helping out in the ministry. Whether you can volunteer one hour on Sunday morning, or help us facilitate a home study, we want to give you an opportunity to serve. There are always places for you to get plugged in. Just ask yourself the following questions: “What am I gifted to do?”, “Where is the greatest need?”, and “What do I want to do?” Please know that you can talk to one of the ministry directors at any time to help you answer these questions and get plugged in to the ministry of CCK.

SANCTUARY – Zechariah 8:9
As the church continues to grow, we recognize that we will not be able to stay at our current Gadith House location forever. However, we don’t want to move ahead of the Lord and His perfect timing for us. That is why we are planning on modifying our current facility to make it more comfortable for the people who attend the church. To do this we are going to purchase new furniture downstairs in the fellowship room and make new signposts for the entrance of the building. We are also going to make the hallway and the stairs part of the church by adding signs and lights for convenience. Finally, we have agreed with the landlord that the lift will be available on Sundays for us to use. These upgrades are only temporary however. We have an ultimate goal of purchasing our own property in the Kampala area.

In these three ways we are sure that God will work in us a fresh new season of His Spirit’s work. Won’t you pray about getting connected to Calvary Chapel? We can’t do it alone, and you are an important part of this church

Please pray for Pastor Josh Carlson and his wife Natalie as they are in the Unites States until February. Pray that God would give them an enjoyable time with friends and family, and also a time of encouragement at the Calvary Chapel Missions Conference and the Calvary Chapel Bible College Conference.

Continue to pray for Brian and Jill Kanyike who have gone to Fort Portal to oversee the church (Calvary Chapel Fort Portal) while Doug and Destiny Calhoon are gone. Brian Kanyike has been teaching at the Bible College here, and will be pastoring in Doug's place for the next few months. Please keep them in prayer, and we will keep you updated on their progress.

Pray for the Calvary community outreaches. Pray for the pastoral interns: Zeddie Mzungu, Peter Nduala, David Kizza, Davik Kimuli, Anthony Yakobo, John Kalule, Joachim Bwambali, and Brian Kanyike.

Praise Report: Our Christmas services went great! Many people came out to celebrate our Lords birth, and to welcome in the new year.

Pray for Far Reaching Ministries and the preparation of the teams that will be coming over next year to minister with us here in Kampala. We are planning a youth outreach, a pastors conference, and a crusade among other things.

Continue to pray for our sister churches in Uganda, Kenya, and Sudan: CC Nairobi, CC Fort Portal, CC Nimule, CC Jinja, CC Entebbe
