Pastoral Interns

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel…”  Jesus spoke these words to His disciples before he ascended into heaven. God’s heart for us is that we would reach out to the world with the good news of Jesus Christ. In fact, reaching out is one of the three main reasons why Calvary Chapel Kampala exists. Our threefold purpose is: Reaching up, reaching in, and reaching out. We reach up to God in worship and praise, living Godly lives for His glory. We reach in to the church, teaching the Word of God, making disciples, and meeting people’s needs. We also reach out to the world in evangelism, spreading the love and forgiveness of Jesus. In these three ways CCK has been an effective ministry in Uganda.

Two weeks ago we started to “reach out” beyond the borders of Kampala. Pastor Josh Carlson, together with four pastoral interns from the church, went out into the town of Luwero. Luwero is about sixty miles north of Kampala, and is full of people who do not know about Jesus. Josh and the interns were invited by a local brother who had access to several school buildings where people from the community could meet on Sunday mornings. His only problem, up until now, was that he had no one to teach the word! The door had been opened by the Lord, and for two Sundays now, we have been teaching the word of God to the people of Luwero. Last Sunday Pastor Josh stayed in Kampala while two of the pastoral interns, Petern Nduala, and Zeddie Muzungu, went to teach. “it was great” Zeddie said when he was asked how the service went. “The people were so interested in what we were teaching. They said they will be back next week to hear more!” This indeed is an exciting opportunity for us, and for the people in Luwero who are hungry for the Word of God.

Pray for the Calvary community outreaches, especially for the new outreach in Luwero town. Pray for the pastoral interns: Zeddie Mzungu, Peter Nduala, David Kizza, Davik Kimuli, Anthony Yakobo, John Kalule, Joachim Bwambali, and Brian Kanyike.

Christmas is coming soon and we are planning many activities at the church including a Christmas day service and a Christmas eve worship and carol service. Pray for the kids Christmas play too.

The Bible College has only one month left in this semester. Pray for the students and teachers that they would finish strong.

Pray for Vicky and Wes Bentley for the work that Far Reaching Ministries is doing in Kitgum with the children.

We have decided that in order for the church to accommodate all of the new people who are attending we need to go to three services on Sunday. Please pray with us about the timing (we are praying about the first of the year) and also pray that the volunteers and staff (including the pastor and worship team) will be prepared for the extra ministry load.

Pray for Far Reaching Ministries and the preparation of the teams that will be coming over next year to minister with us here in Kampala. If you live in the US and would like to join one of the ministry teams you can visit www.frmafrica.org for more information

Continue to pray for our sister churches in Uganda, Kenya, and Sudan: CC Nairobi, CC Fort Portal, CC Nimule, CC Jinja, CC Entebbe
