Wednesday Bible Study at Calvary Chapel Kampala

Every Wednesday evening at Calvary Chapel Kampala we hold our midweek through the Bible study. It is an opportunity for people to go through the Bible book by book, chapter by chapter, and verse by verse. We started this through the Bible service about three years ago, and have moved from Genesis all the way to Second Kings. This teaching pattern will continue until we reach the book of Revelation, though it may take us several more years! We at CCK believe that it takes a whole Bible to make a whole Christian, and by teaching this way, we are effectively declaring the whole counsel of God.

The Midweek Bible study is also quite enjoyable for the congregation. Even though the teaching times frequently go over an hour, people are still drawn to the study, and often comment on the blessings that they receive by being there. The service begins with a time of worship. Ken Nek and the CCK praise team, lead people in heartfelt praise and worship. They incorporate many of the new contemporary worship songs, and also throw in some old favorites and hymns. “I love the worship here at Calvary” one woman commented after the Bible study, “Even when I’m feeling down coming to the service, I always get lifted up during the praise and worship time!”

After worship there is a time of testimony. People are given an opportunity to share their experience of what God has done for them throughout the week. Many are encouraged by the stories of God’s faithfulness, and are able to press on in their own trial as they hear stories of victory from others.

Finally, Pastor Brian shares the Word of God with the congregation. This is the focus of the midweek service, and has been a source of great impact on the church. “Simply teaching the Word simply” Brian commented during a recent midweek study, “That’s what will change this nation—when people open up their Bibles and get to know the awesomeness of our God!” For the past several months the church has been studying in the books of First and Second Kings. People have been blessed, especially by the stories of Elijah and Elisha. This week the study will be in Second Kings chapter five looking at the story of Namaan and the prophet Elisha. We know that God has something special in store through His word, and we are sure that He will continue His great work here at the Calvary Chapel midweek Bible study!

Will you take a moment and pray for the services at CCK? Sunday we have two services, one at 8:15am and another at 10am. Wednesday is our midweek Bible study at 5:30pm. Throughout the week we also have other ministries and fellowship groups. We need your prayers.

Our work on getting a radio station has had some progress. We hope to sign an agreement next week with a firm that will is going to help us in organizing and planning the necessary steps to secure a station. Please continue to pray!

Please pray for our continued quest to find a new location for the church. Pastor Brian will be going to look at property this friday at the Lugogo Bypass.

Praise God that Lynne, the wife of pastor Brian, has returned safely from her journey to the Unites States.

Continue to pray for our sister churches in Uganda, Kenya, and Sudan: CC Nairobi, CC Fort Portal, CC Nimule, CC Jinja, CC Entebbe
