“How can I get involved at Calvary Chapel Kampala?” That is the questions that new members frequently ask, and that is the question that was answered at last week’s Calvary Connection. The Calvary Connection took place on Sunday afternoon, a few hours after the second service. It was a meeting for those who wanted to know more about Calvary Chapel’s vision, philosophy of ministry, and goals for the future. It was also helpful for those who desired to play a bigger part in the church and get more involved.
The meeting started with Pastor Brian sharing about the history and vision of CCK. He also shared on certain Calvary Chapel distinctives like dependence on the Holy Spirit, the verse-by-verse teaching of the Word, and the centrality of Christ in all that we do. Following Pastor Brian’s speech each of the twelve ministry leaders spoke for a few minutes about what they do and how other members of the church can help. Kenny Nek explained the details of worship ministry. Sheila Kihembo talked about the Sunday School program. The others followed. Each person gave a description of their respective ministries, and the people in attendance were thoroughly informed. The more that the ministry leaders shared, the more people got excited about the church. It was awesome!
After the ministry leaders shared the meeting was concluded. The congregation was invited to talk with each of the ministry heads that were then spread out through the sanctuary. Many people volunteered for service that day, and many more went away with a fresh zeal for the work of CCK. The meeting was successful. Questions were answered, and members were connected!

We ask that you start praying now for some of the teams that will be coming to visit us here in Kampala this year. Please pray for these two groups that will be coming in the next few months:
- We have a group coming with Far Reaching Ministries at the end of May. They will be doing some local outreach and a short crusade trip to Mpigi the beginning of June. They are also planning on visiting pastor Craig in Entebbe to do a children’s seminar
- Ray and Vicki Bentley from Maranatha Chapel are coming with a team for a pastor’s and leader’s conference the end of June at CCK. Vicki, with the women of the team, will be joining the CCK ladies for a women’s retreat in Jinja at the same time. They will be involved in several other activities as well.
Pastor Brian will be attending the Calvary Chapel Pastor’s conference this June in Murrieta California. Please pray that he would be encouraged and refreshed as he is there. Special thanks to Calvary Chapel La Habra for flying him out and making the conference possible for him. Please also pray for Pastor Josh as he teaches at CCK while Brian is gone. Also, please pray for his family while he is away for two weeks.
Pleas keep praying for property. This is a huge request as the price of property in Kampala increases on a daily basis. To give you an idea of what we are dealing with here, we looked at one six acre plot near the city that was selling for 2 billion shillings ($1.11 million dollars). That’s a big request but thankfully, we serve a big God!
Praise Report: The youth outreach in Fort Portal was a huge success. Hundreds of kids came out to the event and several people gave their lives to Jesus. Calvary Chapel Fort Portal was completely full that Sunday, and some people had to stand in the back for lack of seating.
