#27 - 1 May 2006

Sunday’s message was given from the opening passage in second Timothy chapter four. The title was “Preach the Word” and message contained the foundational principle to our ministry—the teaching of the World of God. Sadly, this is a command that is not followed in many of our churches today. Church leaders care more about filling the pews with a watered down popular gospel and the promise of entertainment than they do about delivering the Word of God. The consequences are devastating. People are spiritually malnourished, and many never hear of their sinful condition or need of repentance.

On Sunday, Pastor Brian sounded an alarm to the congregation about such shallow methods. “The Word of God is the only thing that is able to change your life thoroughly and completely” Brian proclaimed, “I believe that Uganda is tired of  shallow Christianity, tired of empty self centered teaching, tired of hearing the same emotional message but walking away with nothing of substance. Uganda is ready for the pure powerful teaching of the Word of God!” He continued, “I know that people have itching ears and that they are heaping up teachers for themselves accordingly. But I also know that you are ready for something serious, something that will actually help you to live good instead of just feel good for a few hours.” “Calvary Chapel Kampala is committed to teaching the truth, and as long as I am here you can be sure that the word of God will go forth from this pulpit.” Many were encouraged, and quite a large number of people came forward for prayer after the message.

Pray for next week’s Calvary Connection. This is a meeting where Pastor Brian shares the heart and vision of the church and makes opportunities available for service and involvement.

Continue to pray for our sister churches in Uganda, Kenya, and Sudan: CC Nairobi, CC Fort Portal, CC Nimule, CC Jinja, CC Entebbe

This next weekend there is a big youth outreach at Calvary Chapel Fort Portal in Western Uganda. Pastor Douglas and a team from the US are joining with some of Uganda’s best rap and hip hop gospel artists. Pray that God touches many of the youth that will attend.

Please pray for property! We need a miracle from God to show us where the right land is and to provide the money that we need to purchase it.

Praise report: Mega Mix was excellent. Many people came and heart the gospel message.
