#2 - 15 March 2005

The Apostle Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 3:3 that all of us have an appointment with affliction. In our affliction, however, we have a living and abiding hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. This past Sunday pastor Brian taught on affliction and the comfort that we can have while in the midst of it. “It helps to know”, Brian said, “that God is in control. He doesn’t allow problems in our lives because He is angry with us; He allows them to make us better—to make us more like Him.” Many were encouraged, and responded to the invitation for prayer. It was another example of the powerful ministry of the Word of God in the life of Calvary Chapel Kampala.
“For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.” 1 Thessalonians 2:13

This week pastor Ken Graves is visiting from Calvary Chapel Bangor Maine. He is sharing with the Bible College students, and will be teaching in the Sunday morning service. Ken, together with Wes Bentley, and a few others will be visiting Kitgum this next week. They are going to spy out the land for the ministry to children affected by the LRA rebel group. It is our prayer that God would do a mighty work there, and that Far Reaching Ministries would be able to reach out to those hurting children. For more information about this outreach to the suffering children you can refer to the FRM website at: www.farreachingministries.org

• Continue to pray for the three CCK missionaries in Fort Portal: David, Ernest, and Shafiq. This past Sunday they reported even more people and allot of positive feedback! Thank you for your prayers.

• Please pray for pastor Ken Graves this Sunday, March 20. Pray that God would use him mightily, and cause his message to be relevant and effective.

• Pray for Ken Graves, Wes Bentley, and the others who will be traveling to Kitgum. Pray for their safety and guidance while they are there.

• We have started several new home fellowships at CCK. Pray that people would get involved and really build relationships with one another. The home fellowships meet every Sunday night to discuss that morning’s sermon text. They also spend time in prayer and fellowship.

• Continue to pray for Pastor Craig Linquist that God would guide and direct him to a good building to rent for church services in Entebbe Uganda.
