November was an eventful month at Calvary Chapel Kampala. With the crusade over the church has taken the responsibility of following up those who made professions of faith in Christ. There is a new believer’s class every Sunday after the second service where the new brothers and sisters are given bibles and encouraged to be baptized as a public declaration of their union with Christ. CCK holds baptisms at Lake Victoria, and it is always a wonderful time of joy. Last week was no exception. Baptism candidates and their friends gathered for their memorial event. It was so wonderful to see the smiles of joy on the faces of those who have decided to follow Jesus!
Pastor Brian and his family have flown to the United States for a visit with family and an opportunity to share some of the great things that God is doing in Uganda. They will be gone until the end of Jan. 2006. During his leave Pastor Josh Carlson will be teaching and pastoring. “He will do a wonderful job” Pastor Brian said the Sunday before he left. “I just hope it isn’t too good, so that you are still happy about me coming back!” Of course Brian will be missed for this short time, but we are confident that the church will continue to grow and flourish by God’s grace. Brian was able to finish CCK’s Sunday morning study through the book of Revelation a day before he and his family flew out.

Special prayer request: Many of you may know that the political temperature is very high here in Uganda. With the arrest of opposition leader Kizza Besigye Uganda experienced violent riots in the city center of Kampala and a few other towns in the country (see: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/4435490.stm). CCK is located right in the heart of where the riots took place, and many of the lower windows of the building were broken out. Please pray that during the trial of Besigye, and during the upcoming elections, there would be no violence or bloodshed. Please pray for Pastor Brian and his family as they are in the United States. Pray that they would come back to Uganda refreshed and ready for service.
Pray for Pastor Josh Carlson as he pastors the church. Pray that God would give him wisdom and ability for the task at hand.
Praise God for the property that was purchased in Entebbe for Calvary Chapel Entebbe. Pastor Craig Linquist was able to secure a nice piece of property in Entebbe for the upcoming church plant. They plan to start serviced the beginning of next year.
Continue to pray that God would provide property in Kampala for CCK. We are praying for property within or near the city center.
